Dr. Desai earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University in 1998. She proceeded onto the State University of New York - College of Optometry in New York City, receiving her Doctorate of Optometry and Master of Science in Vision Sciences in 2002.

Upon graduation, Dr. Desai completed a residency in Primary Care with emphasis on Ocular Disease Treatment and Management at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.
Dr. Desai is an active Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), where she has co-authored, presented and published research posters at annual Member meetings. In 2021, Dr. Desai was appointed by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to the New Jersey State Board of Optometrists.
Dr. Desai joined Drs. Savoy and Siegel in 2004 and has since acquired the practice with a goal to establish a full-scope, Woman-Led Optometry practice in the heart of Downtown Jersey City. She stays committed to the tradition of providing Jersey City with trusted family orientated eye care, as established by the Savoy and Siegel families since 1946.
Dr. Desai resides in Bergen County with her two wonderful children and husband. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Dr. Patel graduated from Rutgers University New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and Neuroscience. From there, she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry in 2020 from the State University of New York College of Optometry.

While there, Dr. Patel was a member of the International Optometric Honor Society, Beta Sigma Kappa and awarded the Charles and Mildred Schnurmacher Foundation Scholarship.
During her clinical rotations, her training was concentrated on ocular disease, with a focus on the treatment and management of glaucoma and dry eyes.
Having been born and raised in Jersey City, Dr. Patel is excited to serve the community she calls home. When she is not working, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with her dog and family and friends, as well as volunteering at her local animal shelter.
Dr. Pooja Mahadev was born and raised in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. She attended Penn State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and Health Professions.

She then graduated from SUNY College of Optometry with her Doctorate in Optometry. She continued her education at Nova Southeastern University and completed a residency in Primary Care with Emphasis on Cornea and Contact Lenses. Dr. Mahadev is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Her passions outside of optometry include skiing, playing tennis, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
Dr. Matthew Hosler is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained Glaucoma Specialist. He holds his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He later graduated from the MD/PhD program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he was awarded the Stanley S. Bergen Medal of Excellence.

Dr. Hosler completed his Ophthalmology residency training at Penn State University School of Medicine where he served as chief resident. He received several awards during internship and residency. This was followed by Glaucoma Surgical Fellowship training at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and NYU, where he conducted peer reviewed glaucoma research with Dr. Robert Ritch and Dr. Celso Tello.
He is a lecturer in the clinical medicine course at Seton Hall University. He is also a regular lecturer for the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program through Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health in Rahway.
Dr. Hosler is married with 4 children. He has served as an assistant coach for the Cranford Baseball and Softball League. He currently serves as the Swimming and Lifesaving merit badge counselor for Boy Scout Troop 80 in the Patriot’s Path Counsel.
We are happy welcome Dr. Matthew Hosler to our team of eye care professionals. He provides our patients in Downtown Jersey City with Glaucoma and Cataract consultations and pre- & post-operative care one Saturday a month, from 7am-9am.
